La Fontana International Schools: Attendance Policy

1. Importance of Regular Attendance
Regular and punctual attendance is critical for student achievement and well-being.

2. Reporting Absence
If a student is absent, a parent/guardian must notify the school office by 7.45AM on the first day of absence, stating the reason. A written note or medical certificate may be required upon the student’s return.

3. Punctuality
School begins at 8.00AM. Students arriving after this time are marked late. Persistent lateness will be addressed by the class teacher and Head of Year.

4. Leave of Absence
Requests for leave during term time for exceptional circumstances must be made in writing to the Head of School in advance. Family holidays are not considered a valid reason for term-time absence.

5. Follow-up
The school will contact parents if a student is absent without explanation. Persistent absenteeism will be escalated and may be reported to the relevant authorities as per Kenyan law.
